Locally grown Indian rosewood (sissoo species). We call is "quadruple bookmatched": we glue two narrow billet pieces together (from same slab) then resaw it. This gives two halves of a top with a glued seam in the middle, but the halves are unglued. So this wood has sort of been twice rescued! AZ rosewood is luscious-- a very warm light brown with beautiful grain contrasts. This set has a unique knot feature (that will likely need resin filling) to include or avoid. It is wide enough to play around: keep the sap wood as a central strip or go asymmetric? Asymmetric is COOL (see pics). A couple planer checks here there (pic), but this is so nice, and priced beyond inexpensive. Whether it's your first or 1000th build, your instrument will glow!
